0 • <br /> 1 <br /> Il.o iNTROAN_CT1D_N <br /> Blaes Environmental Management, Inc (Blaes), on behalf of U-Haul International/AMERCO Real Estate <br /> Company (U-Haul), has prepared this Additional Site Characterization Work Plan for U-Haul facility <br /> #709-50 located at 2701 North Wilson Way in Stockton, California (Figure 1) This work plan has been <br /> prepared at the request of Mr Michael Infuma of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, <br /> Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) to provide additional information on the extent of petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons in soil and groundwater at the site Additional information has been requested due to a <br /> significant rise in groundwater levels (and potential variation of the extent of hydrocarbons in soil and <br /> groundwater) since original site characterization activities in 1993 <br /> 11 <br /> The general objective of the program is to supplement previous site characterization data to complete the <br /> ' evaluation of the lateral and vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and groundwater at the site <br /> The site specific program objectives are listed as follows <br /> 1) Evaluate the vertical and lateral extent of hydrocarbons in soil below the depth of previous <br /> investigations (70 to 75 feet below ground surface[bgs]), <br /> ' 2) Install new groundwater monitor wells screened across the current static groundwater interface, <br /> 3) Determine existing groundwater conditions beneath the site using the new groundwater monitoring <br /> Iwells, and ram following installation of the new <br /> 4) Re-establish a quarterly groundwater-monitoring prog <br /> groundwater monitoring wells <br /> i <br /> 1 2 cCnPF.of WORK <br /> The additional site characterization program will involve eight tasks including 1) direct-push sampling of <br /> ' up to six soil borings to approximately 110 feet bgs or to the depth of two consecutive laboratory non-detect <br /> sample intervals, 2) laboratory analysis of soil samples collected from the soil borings to determine vertical <br /> and lateral extent of hydrocarbons in soil beneath the site, 3) installation of eight additional groundwater <br /> monitoring wells (seven of which will be installed adjacent to existing wells with screen intervals below the <br /> current groundwater level), 4) development of the newly installed monitoring wells, 5) Collection of <br /> 1 groundwater samples from the new wells, 6) management of soil and water waste generated during well <br /> g of a <br /> installation activities, 7) laboratory analysis of collected groundwater samples, and 8) preparation <br /> Ireport detailing the findings of the program <br /> 1 <br />
