Blaes Environmental Management Inc ul#709-50
' 002-70950-03 U-Ha
Groundwater Monitoring Report
8/13/0l
3.0 GROUNDWATER MONITORING PROGRAM
The groundwater monitoring program discussed below included one monitoring event conducted in July
' 2001 The measurement and sampling methods employed during the groundwater monitoring event are
discussed in the following sections
3 1 GROUNDWATER MEASUREMENTS—JULY 2001
On July 9, 2001, Blaes Environmental measured the depth to groundwater in the 23oundwat
gr er monitor
' well casings associated with the site Groundwater levels were measured from a surveyed point on the
top of the monitoring well casing to the groundwater surface All water levels were measured to the
nearest 0 01-foot using a Heron TM electric water level sounder The water level depth and time of
measurement were recorded on a standard field data sheet The field data sheet is included in Appendix
A and the data is presented in Table 3 Groundwater depth measurements were performed in accordance
' with Blaes Environmental groundwater monitoring procedures presented in Appendix B
• Groundwater depths recorded in July 2001 ranged from 49 94 feet bgs in MW-7 to 53 25 feet bgs in
MW-6 These measurements corresponded to groundwater elevations ranging from 3146 to 32 70 feet
' below mean sea level No free-phase hydrocarbons were observed during collection of groundwater level
measurements Due to the drop in groundwater at the site, the upper "A" groundwater monitor well
casings did not contain water
The data from the middle "B" and lower "C" well casings were used to create a groundwater condition
maps showing the groundwater flow direction across the site On July 9, 2001, the average groundwater
' flow direction using data from the middle"B"well casings was toward south and west(Figure 3)
Water level data collected from the lower "C" well casings, which have screened intervals below the
groundwater level, indicated water levels slightly less than those in the middle "B" well casings The
groundwater flow direction of water in the lower "C" well casings was toward the north from monitor
well MW-7 Monitor well MW-2 was at a relative hydrologic low compared to levels across the site
The groundwater conditions in the lower"C"well casings are shown on Figure 4
' 7
