' Purging wells by bailing involved using a new disposable bailer, at times two tied in series, and <br /> ' repeatedly bailing water from the well casing until approximately three well volumes of water had been <br /> removed During purging by bailing, periodic groundwater parameter reading were recorded onto the <br /> ' groundwater sampling data sheets These groundwater parameters included conductivity, salinity, <br /> temperature, and pH After recording the groundwater parameters, the purged water was transferred from <br /> five-gallon buckets to an on-site 1,000-gallon polyethylene storage tank <br /> Purging by pumping utilized a DurhamGeo® 1 5-inch diameter submersible pump, associated hose, and <br />' control box The pump was decontaminated before and after use usingliquid Alconox <br /> a q ® detergent <br /> wash, a tap water rinse, and a final rinse with deionized water The pump was typically lowered to <br />' approximately five to ten feet above the bottom of the well Approximately three well volumes of <br /> groundwater were pumped from the wells During purging, the above-mentioned groundwater <br /> parameters were recorded onto the data sheet The data sheet also included start and stop time of <br /> pumping along with the total volume of purged groundwater Purge water was temporarily stored in five- <br /> gallon buckets and later transferred into the on-site polyethylene tank <br />' • Groundwater Sampling <br /> Groundwater samples were collected at each monitoring well using a new polyethylene, disposable bailer <br /> The groundwater recovered with the bailer was transferred into laboratory-supplied sample containers as <br /> needed per each analytical method For quality control and quality assurance purposes, a trip blank was <br />' provided in the sample cooler by the analytical laboratory and an equipment blank sample was collected <br /> at the site Upon collection, the sample date, time, and identification were written on the containers and <br /> on a chain-of-custody The sample containers were then placed in a sample cooler containing ice and <br /> transported, under strict chain-of-custody protocol, to the state-certified analytical laboratory for analysis <br /> I <br /> i <br /> i <br /> 2 <br />
