The depth to ground water is approximately 83 feet below the subject site. According to Mr. Michael Infurna of the San Joaquin ' Public Health Services, the ground water elevation in this area fluctuates as much as 20 feet, seasonally. The hydraulic gradient, calculated in December 1992 is . 001 to the north. The hydraulic gradient has fluctuated over time (Figure 2) . Three ground water wells are located within a 2, 000 foot radius of the subject site (Figure 3) . Wilson Way Owner: Alfred Mayer ' Date Drilled: 1966 Use: Water Well PROCEDURES ' The depth to ground water was measured in monitoring wells MW1, MW2, and MW3 using a ground water probe on 18 March 1993 . On 18 March 1993, HKM Inc. purged and sampled the monitoring wells ' under the supervision of Applied Consultants. Water samples were obtained from MW1, MW2 , and MW3 . The water samples were obtained by bailer after three to four well bore volumes of water had been ' removed from the well and the ground water temperature, conductivity and pH had stabilized (Field Notes) . The water samples were placed in teflon capped VOA vials preserved with HCL. The ' samples were then placed in individual zip lock bags and placed in a chilled container for transport to the laboratory. The three water samples were analyzed for total petroleum ' hydrocarbons (TPH) and purgeable aromatic hydrocarbons (BTE&X) in accordance with the DHS Method (8015-m) and EPA Method 8020.
