U-Haul#709-50
Preliminary Site Conceptual Model alaes Environmental
December 15,2006
Borehole DP-6 defined the western lateral extent of hydrocarbons in soil with detectable concentrations
near detection limits and non-detectable results at depths of 60, 90, and 120 feet bgs The limit of impacted
soil southeast of the source area was inferred using the distance between DP-6 and the source area Southeast
of the source area, analytical results of soil from DP4 and MW4a defined the degree of impacted soil near
the eastern property boundary
The vertical extent of hydrocarbons in soil was further defined with analytical results of soil samples from
boreholes DP-2, DP-3, DP4 and DP-6 The soil sample from DP-2 at 120 feet bgs consisted of sandy clay
and did not contain detectable concentrations of hydrocarbons This was the deepest sample collected from
DP-2 Soil samples collected from DP-3 at approximately 100 and 110 feet bgs consisted of silty sand and
sand Both of these samples from DP-3 did not contain detectable concentrations of hydrocarbons The soil
sample analytical results from the January 2000 sampling program are presented in Table 2 All soil boring
logs from previous site assessment activities are included in Appendix C and all well construction diagrams
from previous site assessment activities are included in Appendix D
In 2003, Blaes Environmental conducted additional site characterization activities that included, in part,
the installation of four new monitor wells (MW-1313, MW-13C, MW-I4B, and MW-I4C) screened across
two depth intervals to accommodate the higher groundwater levels Wells at the site are screened across
three depth intervals These depth intervals include "lower" (C) well casings screened at depths ranging
from approximately 60 to 100 feet bgs, "middle" (B) well casings screened at depths ranging from
approximately 45 to 77 feet bgs, and "upper" (A) well casings screened at depths ranging from
approximately 23 to 62 feet bgs These screened intervals accommodate fluctuations in groundwater depth
that have ranged from approximately 45 to 90 feet bgs since 1993 (SOTA, 1997) Existing monitor well
construction information is summarized in Table 4
Page 7
