U-Haul#709-50 <br /> Preliminary Site Conceptual Model Slaes Environmental <br /> December 15,2006 <br /> During the meeting, the Health & Safety Plan was reviewed and discussed by all personnel The field <br /> program was conducted in strict adherence with the provisions described in the Health& Safety Plan A copy <br /> of the Health & Safety Plan is included as Appendix G <br /> 323 Cone-Penetrometer„Soil Sampling <br /> On March 7'h and 8`h, 2006, Blaes Environmental utilized a 25-ton CPT drill rig provided by Gregg <br /> Drilling, located in Martinez, California, to drill and sample two soil borings (DP-7 and DP-8) to a depth <br /> of approximately 150 feet bgs (Figure 3) Soil boring DP-7 was located near the center of the foriner <br /> USTs and used to define the vertical extent of hydrocarbons in the area Soil boring DP-8 was located <br /> south of the former western dispenser area and used to define the lateral and vertical extent of <br /> hydrocarbons in the area The approximate location of each boring is shown in Figure 3 <br /> Soil samples were collected from soil boring DP-7 at depths of approximately 125 and 150 feet bgs and <br /> from soil boring DP-8 at depths of approximately 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 125, and 150 feet bgs Each soil <br /> sample interval was approximately 12 inches in length Recovered soil was contained in two one-inch <br /> diameter by six-inch long brass sleeves The lower-most sleeve was promptly sealed, labeled, and stored in <br /> a cooler with ice pending on-site laboratory analysis by TEG, Inc The upper sample sleeve of soil was <br /> used for soil descriptions according to the Unified Soil Classification System and photo-ionization (PID) <br /> screening of the soil Soil descriptions, sample intervals, PID readings, and other information were noted <br /> on an exploratory soil boring field log and included in Appendix H Soil samples collected for laboratory <br /> analysis were logged on a chain-of-custody and submitted to the on-site mobile laboratory <br /> 32.4 Soil Sample Laboratory Analysis <br /> All soil samples were analyzed for the presence of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), <br /> benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and total xylenes (BTEX), and 1,2-DCA, 1,I-DCA, tett-butyl-alcohol <br /> (TBA), methyl-tett-butyl-ether (MTBE), di-isopropyl-ether (DIPE), ethyl-tert-butyl-ether (ETBE) and tert- <br /> amyl-methyl-ether (TAME) 1,2 dibromoethane (EDB) using EPA Method 8260B Two soil samples from <br /> soil borings DP-7 and DP-8, one at the lowest sample depth and one with the highest field PID readings, <br /> were also analyzed for lead content <br /> 32.5 Soil sample Analytical Results <br /> Laboratory analytical results indicated that TPHg and all other VOC analytes were not detected above <br /> laboratory reporting limits for soil sample DP7-125' Only total xylenes were detected in soil sample DP7- <br /> Page 9 <br />
