(AGE) and has the following comments.
The Report documents a rebound test of the soil vapor extraction (SVE) remediation system
that has been in operation at the site since August 2010. The SVE system was shut down on
August 22, 2011, and restarted on October 19, 2011. It operated for a period of approximately
24 hours, following which influent and effluent vapor samples were collected. Analytical results
reported low concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline and xylenes in the
influent samples.
AGE recommends no longer conducting remediation by SVE at the site. However, in
correspondence dated October 31, 2011, the EHD approved a work plan to conduct an air
sparging (AS) pilot test to address remediation of the remaining groundwater contamination.
The work plan proposed to use the SVE system during the AS pilot test, and was approved with
that condition. The SVE system may remain off until the pilot test is conducted, but must not be
removed from the site until it is determined it will not be used during any other phase of
remediation at this site.
Please proceed with scheduling the previously approved pilot test for groundwater remediation.
Deadline for conducting the pilot test is February 3, 2011. A Report of Findings is due for
submittal within 60 days following completion of the test.
If you have any questions please contact Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337 or by email at
Iduncanta'sicehd.com.
Lori Duncan, REHS Nuel C.
