1 ,
' 07 June 2004
AGE-NC Project No 02-0926
' Hydrocarbon-like odors were detected in one or more soil sample from every boring Field
observations indicate that hydrocarbon impacted soil remains mostly in the former UST area organic
vapor measurements are included on the boring logs A line of cross section is illustrated on Figure 2
' and a stratigraphic cross section is depicted in Figure 3
' 42 ANALYTICAL AND GEOTECHNICAL RESULTS OF SOIL SAMPLES
A total of 38 soil samples, 21 geoprobe boring samples and 17 monitoring well samples, were
' analyzed for the constituents listed in section 3 1 1 The following constituents were detected at or
above laboratory detection limits
' Hydrocarbons were detected in 15 of the geoprobe soil samples and were not detected in the
monitoring well borings TPH-g was detected in all soil samples collected from B5 and one sample
from B4 Concentrations ranged from 2 2 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) in sample B4-35 to
' 16,000 mg/kg in sample B5-33 The most significant concentrations of hydrocarbons in soil inboring
B5, located at the former UST area, were at depths greater than 30 feet bsg and concentrations are
,. elevated in samples to the total depth of the boring
TPH-d was detected in the samples collected from B5, at concentrations ranging from 640 mg/kg
' to 11,000 mg/kg However, the MAI laboratory report notes the diesel concentrations are typical of
aged or `weathered' gasoline patterns
One or more BTEX compounds were detected in the following soil samples,B4-35,B6-45,B6-55,
and all samples from B5, at the following maximum'concentrations 50 mg/kg benzene (B5-33),
1,800 mg/kg toluene (B5-18), 2,100 mg/kg ethylbenzene (B5-18) and 3,690 mg/kg total xylenes
' (B5-18)
1,2-DCA was detected in the soil sample B5-13 at a concentration of 1 9 mg/kg Lead was detected
in samples B4-35, B5-13 and B5-15, at concentrations of 5 1 mg/kg, 38 mg/kg and 90 mg/kg,
respectively
' No additional target analytes were detected at or above laboratory detection limits in the samples
analyzed Hydrocarbon impact to soil is shown in Figures 4 and 5 with an approximation of the
extent of contamination
' Analytical results of soil samples are summarized in Table 1 The laboratory reports (MAI Work
Order 0210339 and CTEL Project No CT214-0402106 and CT214-0402019),quality assurance and
' quality control (QA/QC) report and chain-of-custody forms are included in Appendix E
Advanced GeoE nviro n mental,Inc
1 '
