02 April 2013
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0130
Page 4 of 9
of the submitted laboratory electronic deliverable format (EDF) files. A plot of laboratory
analysis of SVE influent TPH-g air stream concentrations versus time is included with
Appendix B. The laboratory report (CTEL Project Nos. CT214-1210042, -1211053 and -
1212109) quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) and chain of custody forms are
presented in Appendix C.
2.3.3. Mass Calculation of Recovered Product
The hydrocarbon mass removed during the SVE operating period was calculated using
the equation:
M = C•Q•t
where: M = cumulative mass recovered (kg)
C = vapor concentration (kg/m3)
Q = extraction flow rate (m3/hr)
t = operational period, in hours
During the 4`h quarter 2012(13 September and 18 December 2012),the SVE unit operated
a total of 2,238 hours (i.e. approximately 93 days). The average analytical results of the
influent SVE samples (Table 1), the average diluted SVE influent flow rates (Table 2) and
the operational period (Table 3)were used to calculate the approximate mass of extracted
gasoline during this period.
During the 4`h quarter 2012 operational period, the total mass of hydrocarbons extracted
by the SVE system was calculated to be approximately 249 pounds, or equivalent to a
volume of approximately 40 gallons of gasoline. Based on the above mass and time
period, total petroleum hydrocarbon (gasoline) SVE extraction rates were estimated to be
between approximately 2 to 4 pounds/day. Added to the 24,091 pounds of petroleum
hydrocarbons estimated to have been removed by SVE remediation since September 2004
(start-up), the total mass of hydrocarbons extracted with SVE to date is estimated at
24,340 pounds (Table 3).
3.0. INTERIM GROUNDWATER EXTRACTION REMEDIATION
Between 19 September and 18 December 2012, an interim GWET remediation system
was operated at the site. The groundwater treatment operation and maintenance
procedures for the site were outlined in AGE's Interim Remediation Work Plan-May 2003,
dated 21 May 2003.
Advanced GeoEnvironmcntal,Inc.
