' 20 March 2006
. AGE-NC Project No 95-0130
' an electric air-vacuum pump
Following sample collection, the samples were properly labeled, placed in a covered container and
transported under chain of custody to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories, a DHS-certified
' laboratory in California Each sample was analyzed within 72 hours of collection for TPH-g,BTEX
and MTBE in accordance with EPA Methods 8015M and 8020/8021
33 SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION REMEDIATION FINDINGS
' From field and laboratory data collected at the SVE remediation system between 07 September and
07 December 2005, AGE determined the average TPH-g concentration, the average flow rate and
' calculated the approximate mass and volume of hydrocarbons removed
3 3 1 RESULTS OF SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION
Between 07 September and 07 December 2005, the SVE remediation system was operational for
' • approximately 1,892 hours (Tables 6 and 7) During this operational period, SVE inlet flow rates
were generally observed to average approximately 100 cubic feet per minute, from a differential
pressures observed at approximately 3 6 inches of water Utilizing a photo ionization meter(PID),
hydrocarbon concentrations were measured at concentrations as high as 1,200 parts per million
(ppm) at regular intervals at the SVE inlet Field measurements are summarized in Table 6
3 3 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF VAPOR EXTRACTION AIR FLOW SAMPLES
' Influent and effluent SVE air flow samples were collected on 10 October, 07 November and 07
December 2005 TPH-g was detected in all three influent SVE air flow samples at concentrations
' as high as 1,900 µg/l (December 2005) TPH-g was not detected in the above effluent air flow
samples
' Various BTEX constituents were detected in all three influent SVE air flow samples at
concentrations as high as 15 µg/l benzene, 120 µg/1 toluene, 9 8 pg/l ethylbenzene and 80 pg/1
xylenes (October 2005) Low concentrations of various BTEX constituents were detected in the
' October and November 2005 effluent SVE air flow samples at concentrations as high as 6 2 µg/1
toluene
' MTBE was detected in the October and November 2005 influent SVE air flow samples at
concentrations of 24 µg/1 and 23 pg/l, respectively, MTBE was not detected in any of the above
' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
