INTERIM SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION REMEDIATION
Between 22 June 2005 and 07 September 2005, an SVE remediation system was continuously
' operated at the site, utilizing an electric catalytic oxidizer SVE system to selectively apply an
induced vacuum to wells VW-1 (A and B), VW-2B and VW-3B SVE procedures for the site were
' described in the AGE-prepared Interim Remediation Work Plan, dated 21 May 2003, and approved
by the SJCEHD by letter dated 10 June 2003
' 3 1 REMEDIATION SYSTEM PROCEDURES
' The SVE system utilized a manifold network of two-inch diameter, Schedule 40 PVC piping
installed underground from SVE wells VW-1 through VW-3 to the inlet of the SVE remediation
system The SVE remediation system consists of a Solleco Ecat 250 catalytic oxidizer vapor
' . recovery system
In order to monitor efficiency of the SVE system, l)a Magnehelic vacuum gauge and Dwyer DS-200
' differential pressure sensor was installed prior to the inlet of the SVE unit so that air flow rate is
monitored, the flow rate was determined from the measured differential pressure and the piping
' diameter using a nomograph(Appendix D),2)SVE air flow of the influent and effluent streams were
monitored routinely for the presence of organic vapor using an organic vapor analyzer (OVA)
equipped with a photo-ionization detector(PID Thermo Environmental 580B, 10 0 eV, calibrated
to isobutylene), and 3) influent and effluent air flow vapor stream samples were collected from
sampling ports installed upstream(influent)of the vacuum blower and downstream(effluent)of the
catalytic oxidizer and submitted for laboratory analysis Analytical results of SVE air flow samples
' are summarized in Table 5, field measurements were recorded at regular intervals and are
summarized in Table 6
' Between 22 June 2005 and 07 September 2005, an induced vacuum was selectively applied to SVE
wells VW-1 (A and B), VW-2A and VW-3A to extract hydrocarbon vapor from the subsurface
(Table 6)
i
■ Advanced GeoEnvironmentat,Inc
