i
31 July 2000
AGE-NC Project No 95-0130
• The lateral and vertical extent of the dissolved hydrocarbon plume is not known in any
direction
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon the results of the Second Quarter 2000 investigation, AGE recommends
• Continued quarterly ground water monitoring, the next quarterly ground water monitoring
event is tentatively scheduled for September 2000
• Continued utilization of wells VW-1B, VW-1C, VW-2A, VW-2B, VW-3A and VW-3B for
characterization of ground water conditions in the "core area"
• Advancement of two exploratory soil borings in the area of VW-3 and VW-2 to depths of
approximately 150 feet bsg for vertical assessment of soil and ground water
• Immediately proceed with ground water monitoring well installations as outlined in the Work
Plan Addendum - June 1998, dated 23 June 1998 and approved by the PHS-EHD by letter
dated 18 August 1999
• Proceed with a ground water pump testing to obtain general aquifer characteristics such as
hydraulic conductivity, transmissivity, storativlty and drawdown at various pumping rates
Results of the pump test would be utilized to estimate a radius of influence for the zone of
capture of dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons
• Install and continuously operate a ground water extraction system (interim remediation) in
the area of VW-3 to inhibit further off-site migration of the fuel impacted-ground water
plume
6.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing In this or similar localities The findings were based mainly
upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the geologic/hydro-
geologic conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are made from a limited number
of available data points (CPT data, soil and ground water samples), and subsurface conditions may
vary away from these data points No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the
professional recommendations contained in this report
Advanced CeoEnvironmental,Inc
