' 08 July 1999
AGE-NC Project No 95-0130
' of increasing ground water elevations has been observed at the site at least since January 1995 The
general ground water gradient at the site was calculated to be approximately 0 007 ft/ft or
approximately 37 feet per mile and directed towards the northeast which is consistent with the
' general gradient and flow direction determined at the adjacent site (Wells Fargo Bank - 49 South
Wilson Way) The ground water surface elevation at the site is approximately 12 feet to 23 feet
above the slotted screen intervals in wells MW-1 through MW-5 and approximately 4 feet to 10 feet
' above the slotted screen intervals in wells VW-I C, VW-2A and VW-3A Therefore these wells are
"drowned", and yield samples representative of deeper ground water
' Based on the ground water monitoring data collected on 26 March 1999,ground water flow direction
in the area bound by wells VW-1C, VW-2A and VW-3A appeared to have a southwesterly gradient
and is contrary to the ground water flow direction observed in the surrounding area bound by wells
' MW-I through MW-5 Ground water elevations calculated from VW-I C, VW-2A.and VW-3A.were
not utilized to contour ground water elevations in Figure 3
32 LABORATORY RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
Utilizing EPA Method 8015M, TPH-g was detected in water samples collected from wells MW-1
through MW-5,VW-I C,VW-2A and VW-3A.at concentrations ranging between 78 micrograms per
' liter (,ug/l) and 240,000 µg/l, respectively The laboratory noted unmodified or weakly modified
gasoline was significant at each sample
Utilizing EPA Method 8020, various BTE&X compounds were detected in water samples collected
from MW-1 through MW-5, VW-1C, VW-2A and VW-3A at concentrations ranging between 2 5
µg/1 and 41,000 µg/1 (benzene and toluene, VW-1C) MTBE was detected in a water sample
Icollected from well MW-3
Utilizing EPA Method 8260, MTBE was detected in water samples collected from wells MW-2,
MW-3, VW-1C, VW-2A and VW-3A at concentrations ranging between 2 4 µg/l and 4,400 /.cg/1
DIPE was detected in a water sample collected from MW-2 at a concentration of 1 7 µg/l, TBA was
detected in a water sample collected from well MW-3 at a concentration of 47 µg/1 No other fuel
oxygenated compounds were detected during the laboratory analysis
Analytical results of the ground water samples are summarized in Table 2 The laboratory reports
(McCampbell Analytical Inc I D 08606 through 08613) and chain-of-custody forms are presented
in Appendix B
Advanced GeoEn\Iron mental,Inc
f
