f <br />' 02 December 1998 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0130 <br /> Page 3 of 5 <br /> During the September 1998 monitoring event, ground water was approximately 19 feet above the <br /> top of the screened intervals (drowned) of monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-3, approximately <br /> 14 feet above screened interval at MW-4, approximately 10 feet above screened interval at MW-5 <br />' and between 2 and 7 5 feet above the screened intervals of VW-IC, V W-2A and VW-3A As a <br /> result, the screened intervals from these wells are completely submerged (drowned), and may not <br /> yield water samples fully representative of ground water conditions near the top of the saturated zone <br /> Iwhere fuel hydrocarbons would be expected to have the greatest impact <br /> Ground water monitoring data collected in September 1998 in the area of MW-1 through MW-5, <br /> VW-I C,VW-2A and VW-3A indicated that the ground water flow direction was generally toward <br /> the northeast at a gradient of 0 006 ft/ft, or approximately 30 feet per mile (Figure 3) <br /> 3 2 LABORATORY RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES <br /> During the September 1998 sampling event, TPH-g was detected in water samples collected from <br /> MW-2 through MW-5, VW-1C, VW-2A and VW-3A at concentrations ranging between 74 <br /> micrograms per liter (µg/1) and 230,000 µg11, respectively <br /> Various BTE&X compounds were detected in water samples collected from the same wells at <br /> concentrations ranging between 0 88 4g/1 and 51,000 µg/l (benzene, VW-1 C) <br /> MTBE was confined in water samples collected from MW-2,MW-3,VW-IC,VW-2A and VW-3A <br /> at concentrations ranging between 2 1 µg/l and 4,1 00µg11 MTBE was not confirmed at MW-1, but <br /> was detected utilizing EPA Method 8020 at a concentration of 0 92µg/l <br /> TBA was detected in water samples collected from MW-2 and MW-3 at concentrations of 13 µg/l <br /> and 64 µg/l, respectively, DIPE was detected in a water sample collected from MW-2 at a <br /> concentration of 16µg/l No other fuel oxygenating compounds were detected from analyzed water <br /> samples <br /> Analytical results of the ground water samples are summarized in Table 2 The laboratory reports <br /> (Castle Analytical Laboratory Reference No 1760 and McCampbell Analytical Inc I D No 94856 <br /> through 94863) and chain-of-custody forms are presented in Appendix B <br /> 4.0.
