R ,
March 8, 1999
Page 3
Subsurface Groundwater Conditions
Groundwater was encountered at a depth of approximately 65 feet bgs and stabilized at
approximately 60 feet bgs Groundwater flow direction is estimated to be to the southeast
at a gradient of 0 037, as shown on Figure 4
Soil Analytical Results
TPH-g was reported in two of ten analyzed soil samples at concentrations of 8,580 and
3 23 ppm in Wells MW-1 at 30 feet and MW-2 at 60 feet, respectively (Data reported
from a dilution) Benzene was reportgd in the same two samples of 12 1 and 0 0995 ppm,
respectively MtBE was not reported in any of the analyzed samples Soil analytical
data is presented as Table 1 One soil sample was analyzed for physical parameters
including total porosity, moisture content, dry bulk density, water saturation,
permeability, total organic content, and pH Soil physical parameter results are presented
as Table 3 Certified analytical reports and chain-of-custody documentation is presented
in Attachment D
Groundwater Analytical Results
TPH-g was reported at 1,400 parts per billion (ppb) in MW-1 and was not detected in
MW-2 or MW-3 Benzene was reported in MW-1 and MW-2 at 3 2 and 63 ppb,
respectively MtBE was detected and confirmed using EPA Method 8260 in MW-1 and
MW-2 at 26 and 19 ppb, respectively No other oxygenates were detected Groundwater
analytical results are presented in Table 2 Certified analytical reports and chain-of-
custody documentation is presented in Attachment D
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Hydrocarbons in the soil have been defined laterally and vertically to low or
non-detectable concentrations at the subject site The extent of impacted groundwater has
not been defined in the downgradient direction Additional groundwater monitoring
points will probably be necessary to evaluate the extent of impacted groundwater
Groundwater will be monitored on a quarterly basis The need for additional monitoring
well(s) at the site will be evaluated based on first quarter 1999 monitoring results
920-122 1 GREPORT
