HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC. + Specialists in Site Assessment Remedial Testing Design and Operation October 29, 2003 NOV 0 3 2003 Mr Joe Aldridge ENVIRONMENT HEALTH Ultramar Inc PERMIT/SERVICES 685 West Third Street Hanford, California 93230 Subject Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report Third Quarter 2003 Former Beacon Station No 12419 2350 Waterloo Road, Stockton, California Mr Aldridge Horizon Environmental Inc (Horizon) has prepared this report which documents third quarter 2003 groundwater monitoring at the subject site located in San Joaquin County, as shown on Figure 1 There are currently eleven groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-11), two soil vapor extraction wells (VW-1 and VW-2), and three air-sparge wells (AS-1 through AS-3) associated with this site The wells, with the exception of monitoring well MW-6, are . all located within the station property boundaries (Figure 2) Groundwater Monitoring Groundwater monitoring activities were conducted by Horizon on September 18, 2003 according to Horizon Field Methods and Procedures (Attachment A) Monitoring activities included measurement of static groundwater level, purging groundwater from the wells, collection of groundwater samples, and preparation and delivery of the samples to the analytical laboratory The depth to groundwater was measured to the nearest 0 01-foot from the top-of-casing (TOC) in monitoring wells MW-6, MW-7, MW-9, MW-10 and air sparge wells AS-2 and AS- 3 Monitoring wells MW-8 and MW-11 were dry The groundwater physical parameters of conductivity, pH and temperature were monitored with field instrumentation and the visual characteristics of turbidity and presence of free product or sheen, and obvious olfactory characteristics of the groundwater were noted during the purging process Field groundwater level and purge data are recorded on Horizon Monitoring Well Data sheets (Attachment B) Groundwater samples were collected from monitoring wells MW-6, MW-7, MW-9 and MW- 10 and air sparge wells AS-2 and AS-3 Groundwater samples were submitted under chain-of- custody (COC) documentation, to Kiff Analytical LLC (Kiff), a California Department of Health Services-certified analytical laboratory (ELAP No 2236) located in Davis, California The samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), the volatile 5011 Golden Foothill Parkway, Suite 7 • EI Dorado Hills CA 95762 • (916) 939-2170 • FAX (916) 939-2172 PO Box 5283 • Bakersfield CA 93388 9 (661) 589-8389 • FAX (661) 589-1456
