t <br /> r HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC. <br /> Specialists in Site Assessment, Remedial Testing,Design and Operation <br /> March 24, 2003 <br /> Mr Joe Aldridge MAY 0 5 2003 <br /> Ultramar Inc EE1�ViR01VNfENT HEALTH685 West Third Street <br /> Hanford, California 93230 PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> Subject Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report <br /> First Quarter 2003 <br /> Former Beacon Station No 12419 <br /> ' 2350 Waterloo Road, Stockton, California <br /> Mr Aldridge <br /> Horizon Environmental Inc (Horizon) has prepared this report which documents first quarter <br /> 2003 groundwater monitoring at the subject site located in San Joaquin County as shown on <br /> Figure l There are currently eleven groundwater monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-11), <br /> two soil vapor extraction wells (VW-1 and VW-2) and three air-sparge wells (AS-1 through <br /> AS-3) associated with this site The wells, with the exception of well MW-6, are located <br /> within the station property boundaries (Figure 2) <br /> Groundwater Monitoring <br /> Groundwater monitoring activities were conducted by Horizon on February 17 and 18, 2003 <br /> according to Horizon Field Methods and Procedures (Attachment A) Monitoring activities <br /> included measurement of static groundwater level, purging groundwater from the wells, <br /> collection of groundwater samples, and preparation and delivery of the samples to the <br /> analytical laboratory <br /> The depth to groundwater was measured to the nearest 0 01 foot from the top-of-casing (TQC) <br /> in monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-10 and air sparge wells AS-1 through AS-3 <br /> Monitoring well MW-11 was dry The groundwater physical parameters of conductivity, pH <br /> and temperature were monitored with field instrumentation and the visual characteristics of <br /> turbidity and presence of free product or sheen, and obvious olfactory characteristics of the <br /> groundwater were noted during the purging process Field groundwater level and purge data <br /> are recorded on Horizon Monitoring Well Data sheets (Attachment B) <br /> Groundwater samples were collected from groundwater monitoring wells MW-1 through <br /> MW-5 and MW-7 through MW-10 and air sparge wells AS-1 and AS-2 Monitoring wells <br /> MW-6, and air sparge well AS-3 were not analyzed due vehicles blocking access to wells <br /> Groundwater samples were submitted, under chain-of-custody (COC) documentation, to Kiff <br /> Analytical LLC (Kiff), a California Department of Health Services-certified analytical <br /> i <br /> 5011 Golden Foothill Parkway, Suite 7 • El Dorado Hills CA 95762 e (916) 939-2170 • FAX (916) 939-2172 <br /> P 0 Box 5283 • Bakersfield CA 93388 • (661) 589-8389 • FAX (661) 589-1456 <br />
