I <br /> ~ HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC. <br /> Specialists in Site Assessment Remedial Testing, Design and Operation <br /> • <br /> September 10 2001 <br /> Mr Joe Aldridge <br /> Ultramar Inc <br /> 685 West Third Street <br /> Hanford, California 93230 <br /> Subject Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report <br /> Second Quarter 2001 <br /> Former Beacon Station No 12419 <br /> 2350 Waterloo Road, Stockton, California <br /> I <br /> Mr Aldridge <br /> Horizon Environmental Inc (Horizon) has prepared this quarterly monitoring report which <br /> documents second quarter 2001 monitoring activity at the subject site located in San Joaquin <br /> County as shown on Figure 1 There are currently eleven groundwater monitoring wells <br /> (MW-1 through MW-11), two soil vapor extraction wells (VW-1 and VW-2) and three air- <br /> sparge wells (AS-1 through AS-3) associated with this site The wells, with the exception of <br /> well MW-6, are located within site boundaries (Figure 2) <br /> • Groundwater Monitoring <br /> Groundwater monitoring activities were conducted by Horizon on 26 June 2001 according to <br /> Horizon Field Methods and Procedures (Attachment A) Monitoring activities included <br /> measurement of static groundwater level, purging groundwater from the wells, collection of <br /> groundwater samples, and preparation and delivery of the samples to the analytical laboratory <br /> The depth to groundwater was measured to the nearest 0 01 foot from the top-of-casing (TOC) <br /> in monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-11 and air sparge wells AS-1 through AS-3 Vapor <br /> extraction wells VW-1 and VW-2 were dry Field groundwater level data are recorded on <br /> Horizon Monitoring Well Data sheets (Attachment B) and are summarized in Table 1 <br /> Field groundwater monitoring well purge data are recorded on Horizon Monitoring Well Data <br /> sheets The physical parameters conductivity, pH and temperature were monitored with field <br /> instrumentation during the purging process The visual characteristics of turbidity and <br /> presence of free product or sheen, and the obvious olfactory characteristics of the groundwater <br /> were also noted during the purging process <br /> Groundwater samples were collected from groundwater monitoring wells MW-1 through <br /> MW-II and air-sparge wells AS-1 through AS-3 Groundwater samples were submitted, <br /> under chain-of-custody (COC) documentation, to Kiff Analytical LLC (Kiff), a California <br /> Department of Health Services-certified analytical laboratory (ELAP No 2236) located in <br /> 5011 Golden Foothill Parkway, suite 7 • EI Dorado Hills CA 95762 .
