� <br /> ILHORIZ I <br /> ENVRONMENT <br /> INC. <br /> �� <br /> Specialists in Site Assessment,Remedial Testing Design and Operation <br /> �r <br /> November 24, 1999 <br /> Mr Joe Aldridge <br /> Ultramar Inc <br /> 525 West Third Street <br /> Hanford, California 93230 <br /> Subject Vapor Extraction/Air Sparge Test Report <br /> Former Beacon Station No 419 <br /> 2350 East Waterloo Road, Stockton, California <br /> Mr Aldridge <br /> At the request of Ultramar Inc (Ultramar), Horizon Environmental Inc (Horizon) has <br /> prepared this report summarizing the results of a soil vapor extraction test (VET) and an air <br /> sparge test (AST) performed at the subject site (Figure 1, Site Vicinity Map) These tests <br /> were performed to evaluate soil and groundwater remediat n alternatives for the subject <br /> property The site is an operating gasoline service station Iocated on the southwestern corner <br /> of the intersection of Waterloo Road and Sierra Lane in Stockton, California Site facilities <br /> include a station building, two gasoline product dispenser islands located east of the station <br />. building, and three underground gasoline storage tanks (USTs) located toward the eastern <br /> property boundary Locations of these and other pertinent site features are shown on the Site <br /> Plan (Figure 2) <br /> VAPOR EXTRACTION TEST PROCEDURES <br /> Prior to initiating testing, Horizon sent a notification form to the San Joaquin Valley Air <br /> Pollution Control District and received written authorization dated October 7, 1999 for the <br /> VET The VET consisted of vapor extraction from wells VW-1 (screened from 34' to 44' <br /> bgs) and VW-2 (screened from 15' to 25' bgs), monitoring the flowrate for vacuum, <br /> temperature and pressure, and monitoring wells MW-7 and MW-9 for vacuum response In <br /> addition, a Honba organic vapor analyzer was used to measure the hydrocarbon <br /> concentration of the blower influent and carbon effluent <br /> The VET was performed on October 13, 1999 A 2-horsepower Rotron regenerative blower <br /> was used to establish a well vacuum and initiate flow The blower was piped to a manifold <br /> equipped with a dilution valve, pitot tube, pressure and temperature gauges and a sample <br /> port Extracted soil gas was routed through 1-200 pound activated carbon unit for treatment <br /> Flow was initially established at 13 standard cubic feet per minute (scfm) at a vacuum of 50 <br /> inches of water column <br /> The VET was run for four hours, with blower influent and carbon effluent vapor samples <br /> collected for laboratory analysis Collected samples were submitted under chain-of-custody <br /> (COC) to Kiff Analytical (Kiff), a State-certified laboratory in Davis, California (Certificate <br /> 5011 Golden Foothill Parkway Suite 7 .
