Former Beacon Station No 419 February 17, 1999 <br /> Stockton,California Additional Subsurface Investigation <br /> concentrations of 70 parts per billion (ppb) and 88 ppb, respectively BTEX and '"MTBE <br /> were not present above the laboratory reporting limits to any of the water samples <br /> Quarterly groundwater monitoring has been conducted at the site since July 1994 <br /> FIELD WORK <br /> Horizon obtained work plan approval and boring/well construction permits from the San <br /> Joaquin County Public Health Services/Environmental Health Division (SJC PHS/EHD) <br /> prior to beginning the work (Appendix A) Underground Services Alert (USA) was notified <br /> I for locations of underground utilities and a site-specific Health & Safety Plan was prepared <br /> prior to initiating field work <br /> All activities were completed in compliance with the State of California Water Resources <br /> Control Board's Leaking Underground Fuel Tanks (L UFT) Manual, and the SJC PHS/EHD <br /> guidelines Horizon Environmental Inc Field Methods and Procedures are included in <br /> tAppendix B <br />' Drilling, Soil Sampling,_ and Groundwater Sampling <br /> Between September 22 and 28, 1998, Horizon geologists observed the drilling of six soil <br />' borings at the site The locations of the borings were selected to attempt to further u'fire the <br /> gasoline-range hydrocarbons in the soil and historical low groundwater level beneath the <br /> site, and provide additional monitoring wells completed across the current higher <br /> groundwater levels The soil borings were drilled and sampled using a truck-mounted <br />' drilling rig equipped with 8-inch diameter (borings SB-6, SB-7, and SB-9) and 10-inch <br />' diameter (borings MW-7, MW-8, and MW-9) hollow-stem augers The borings were drilled <br /> or attempted at the locations indicated on the Site Plan (Figure 2) Sot] boring SB-8 was <br />' attempted in three locations, then abandoned after pea gravel was encountered to depths of at <br /> least two feet All drilling, sampling, and well completion activities were performed by V & <br />' 1419-12 rpt 3 HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC <br />
