John Alaniz [EH]
From: Azevedo, Steve <Steve.Azevedo@kniferiver.com>
Sent: Wednesday, April 3, 2019 12:34 PM
To: John Alaniz [EH]; Coleman, Lance
Cc: Garrett Backus [EH]
Subject: RE: In Office Inspection Report 4-2-2019 PR0528488
Attachments: 201904031200.pdf
John,
Attached, please find a signed copy of the Return to Compliance Certification. Supporting statements are as follows:
? #202 - I'm not sure who told you the waste was thrown directly into the trash, but this comment was made in
error. The waste was previously placed on the sand/soil/asphalt pile and hauled to the Forward Landfill as a
special waste. Regardless, the material you witness on the pile at the time of your inspection was in fact hauled
off to a permitted TSDF and the manifests were previously sent to you. In the future, this waste material will
either be shipped to a permitted TSDF or tested to show that it is not a hazardous waste.
? #204—In the future, we will not shovel out the material onto sand to let it dry. If we do not test it to show it is
not a hazardous waste, we will place the material directly into a D.O.T. approved container for proper
disposal. Due to this, we do not plan to obtain a permit to treat hazardous waste.
Hopefully, these statements are adequate enough to address your concerns. Please let me know if you have additional
questions.
Sincerely,
Steve Azevedo
California Environmental Manager
Knife River Corporation
kniferiver.com
(209)948-0302
From:John Alaniz [EH] <jalanizl@sjcehd.com>
Sent:Tuesday, April 2, 2019 4:39 PM
To: Coleman, Lance<Lance.Coleman@pnwoil.com>;Azevedo, Steve<Steve.Azevedo@kniferiver.com>
Cc: Garrett Backus [EH] <gbackus@sjcehd.com>
Subject: In Office Inspection Report 4-2-2019 PR0528488
** WARNING: EXTERNAL SENDER.
