Services (SJCEHD/PHS) In the February 21, 2001 letter, the SJCEHD/PHS expressed
concerns about the work plan addressing the vertical and lateral extent of the soil and
groundwater contamination at the site
Specifically, the SJCEHD/PHS was concerned about the vertical definition of the soil and
groundwater contamination in the vicinity of previously documented soil contamination
In addition, concerns were raised about the need for discrete groundwater sample
collection from depths greater than the present screened well intervals Finally, the
SJCEHD/PHS requested analysis of all soil and groundwater samples for petroleum
hydrocarbons by EPA Method 8015m, volatile aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene,
ethyl benzene, and xylenes) by EPA Method 8020 (8021B), and fuel additives and
oxygenates including 1,2 dichlorethane, ethylene dibromide, ethanol, and methanol by
EPA Method 8260
This addendum proposes to add an additional drilling location to address the concerns
about vertical definition in areas of previously documented soil contamination An
additional test boring is proposed in the vicinity of boring B1 (see attached site map)
Geologic logging and soil / water sample collection and analysis will be conducted from
the base of the previous boring to total depth of the test hole
Access to several of the borehole locations proposed in the January 18, 2001 work plan is
extremely restricted and use of a limited access Geoprobe, direct push, drill rig will be
required The smaller limited access type drill rigs do not have the capability to drill to
iextended depths Construction of deep test holes will require the relocation of fences and
