Washington Street, Ripon, California • 1.0 PROJECT IDENTIFICATION The following plan is being submitted in compliance the directives of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division review letter dated October 12, 2000 requiring the definition of the vertical and lateral extent of the documented groundwater contamination plume Division staff recommended the use of direct push techniques or continuous core sampling / cone penetrometor to define the extent of the groundwater plume and the hydrogeologic controls on the plume distribution The scope of work presented below addresses the definition of the extent of groundwater contamination through the use of direct push technology (Geoprobe) Quarterly monitoring and sample collection of the previously installed groundwater monitoring wells will also be conducted during this phase of work 1.1 Site Description and History Two underground fuel tanks were removed on February 11, 1999 by SEMCO under permit from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division 47 pg/kg of xylene were detected in the laboratory analyses of a soil sample collected at 13 feet in depth, primarily in the area of Tank 1 (TK-1) (Figure 2) 190 gg/kg MTBE and 1200 t-butyl ether were detected in a composite grab sample collected from the stockpiled
