Washington Street, Ripon, California <br /> • <br /> 1.0 PROJECT IDENTIFICATION <br /> The following plan is being submitted in compliance the directives of the San Joaquin <br /> County Environmental Health Division review letter dated October 12, 2000 requiring <br /> the definition of the vertical and lateral extent of the documented groundwater <br /> contamination plume Division staff recommended the use of direct push techniques or <br /> continuous core sampling / cone penetrometor to define the extent of the groundwater <br /> plume and the hydrogeologic controls on the plume distribution The scope of work <br /> presented below addresses the definition of the extent of groundwater contamination <br /> through the use of direct push technology (Geoprobe) Quarterly monitoring and sample <br /> collection of the previously installed groundwater monitoring wells will also be <br /> conducted during this phase of work <br /> 1.1 Site Description and History <br /> Two underground fuel tanks were removed on February 11, 1999 by SEMCO under <br /> permit from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division 47 pg/kg of <br /> xylene were detected in the laboratory analyses of a soil sample collected at 13 feet in <br /> depth, primarily in the area of Tank 1 (TK-1) (Figure 2) 190 gg/kg MTBE and 1200 <br /> t-butyl ether were detected in a composite grab sample collected from the stockpiled <br />
