On December 2 and 3, 2003 M.J. Kloberdanz & Associates drilled a single soil boring near existing monitoring well MW-2 (Figure 2) to a depth of sixty feet below surface grade (bgs). A conductor casing was used in the construction of k the deep boring on the first day of drilling. The 8-5/8-inch steel casing was set near the 1 bottom of a 10�foot clay unit at 36 feet adjacent to the existing monitoring well MW-2. The bottom of the conductor casing was sealed with Bentonite, inside and outside, and grouted to the surface with cement. The cement grout was allowed to dry overnight and the boring advanced through the steel casing to a total depth of 60 feet. The well was completed with a five-foot screend� at depths of 55 to 60 feet. A Geologic log of well MW-4 is included as Appendix C. Well MW-4 was surveyed for elevation and included in determination of the groundwater gradient. Soil samples were collected during the installation of MW-4 at 35, 50, and 60 feet and analyzed for gasoline, BTEX and MTBE. All three samples were non-detect for the compounds analyzed. A groundwater sample was collected on December 8, 2003 and ' analyzed for gasoline, BTEX and all of the Oxygenated compounds. MTBE at a concentration of 0.9 gglL was the only analyte detected. Since the pH was high during sampling, indicating the influence of cement or Bentonite into the deeper aquifer. Due to ' the possibility that the MTBE may have been introduced during drilling the well was redeveloped on December 12, 2003. Thirty gallons of water were removed during redevelopment and the pH lowered to 6.9. Table of Laboratory Soil Sample Results (12-03-03) Sample I.D.
