2 . 3 . 3 Drill cuttings will be logged continuously for
characterization of contamination and soil type by
Iltili7ing the Unified Soil Classification System
(Appendix I ) . Descriptions of the soils encountered and
monitoring well construction details will be recorded on
boring/well logs and included within the assessment
report . A cored soil sample will be collected from
each boring immediately above the water table and
analyzed for benzene, toluene, xylenes (BTX, EPA 8020 ) ,
total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH, DOHS
method ) , and oil/grease (EPA 413 . 1 ) . The samples will be
collected, preserved and transported under chain-of-
custody in accordance with WaterWork ' s Soil Sampling
Protocol (Appendix II ) . B .C. Laboratories (DOHS
Certification No . 102 ) , will perform the analyses .
Thereafter, a proposal for on-site treatment or disposal
of the excavated material will be prepared .
2 . 8 . 4 Groundwater will be monitored in accordance with
WaterWork ' s Groundwater Monitoring Protocol (Appendix II ) .
2 . 8 . 5 Subsequent to installation, water samples will be
collected from the monitoring wells after purging a
minimum of four well volumes (casing and sand pack )
from each well . The purged water will remain on-site in
secured 55 gallon drums until laboratory results are
received . A proposal for treatment or disposal of the
water produced during development will then be prepared .
Water sample collection and preservation will be in
accordance with WaterWork ' s Groundwater Sampling
Protocol (Appendix II ) . The water samples will be
analyzed by B.C. Laboratories for BTX/TPH as gasoline
and oil/grease .
2 . 8 . 6 A Problem Assessment report will be prepared according
to Regional Board guidelines summarizing the findings of
the investigation and recommending, as appropriate,
further courses of action . The field investigation will
be conducted under the direct supervision of Russell
Juncal, California Registered Geologist No . 3864, who
will also review and sign the assessment report .
3 . 0 Reference
American Environmental Management Corporation, 1988, Report
of Environmental Assessment of the 30-Acre Tracy
Property, 16 pp .
Hotchkiss, W.R. and Balding, G.O . 1971, Geology, Hydrology,
and Water Quality of the Tracy-Dos Palos Area, San
Joaquin Valley, California, U.
