ENGEO
GEOTECHNICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANTS
I N C O R P O R A T E D MATERIALS TESTING
Project No.
4545.2.002.03
September 29, 1999
Mr. Michael Infurna
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
304 E. Weber, Third Floor
Stockton, California 95202
Subject: 400 South Tracy Boulevard
Tracy, California
WORK PLAN FOR MONITORING WELL DESTRUCTION
Dear Mr. Infurna:
As requested, ENGEO Incorporated is pleased to provide this work plan for the destruction of four
existing monitoring wells located in the northeast portion of the Ryland Junction development in
Tracy, California. Resna installed the subject monitoring wells in 1989 for the purpose of
observing and sampling ground water. These wells are no longer used and it is planned to grade
the site soon; therefore, these wells need to be destroyed and abandoned as required by the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department. At this time, two of the four monitoring wells
have been located on-site. The remaining two wells have not been located and appear to have been
obscured as a result of previous agricultural discing at the site.
We propose to abandon the two monitoring wells that we have located onsite by overdrilling them
using hollow stem augers for the full well depth and backfilling with neat cement.
We plan to explore for the two missing monitoring wells during the initial site grading and
stripping. Grading equipment will be utilized to excavate the area of the wells in an attempt to
locate the well casing. If encountered, the wells will be over-drilled and backfilled with neat
cement. If the two wells are not located during subexcavation, then we propose to cap the areas of
the monitoring wells with 5 feet of engineered fill.
If the scope of this work plan does not meet your requirements or you have any questions, please do
not hesitate to contact us.
Very truly yours,
ENGEO INCORPORATED Reviewed by:
A_MY9ft_
Casey Lee Jensen Duncan R.
