The
Report concluded that a potential threat to public health or the
environment due to direct contact with contaminated soil, ingestion
of contaminated soil, or contact with runoff of contaminated
surface water from the site did not exist. The Report also
concluded that the potential impacts of the contamination on ground
water uses were minimal but warranted monitoring by the Regional
Water Quality Control Board. As indicated in the enclosed copy of
the letter to Mr. Eric Sung, the Department accepted the Report and
its assessment of site conditions provided future investigations
and property development address Department concerns.
Proposed development of a park above the contaminated area and
residential units on the nor.-contaminated area was a major
consideration throughout the preparation of the Report. Provided
the information presented in the Report is correct and the
Department ' s approval conditions are implemented, the site does not
appear to pose a threat to future inhabitants of the proposed
residential area and/or park.
