. 1.0 INTRODUCTION
SECOR International Incorporated (SECOR) has prepared this report to document recent
environmental field activities conducted at the former Econo Gas Station located at 4325 East
Washington Street in Stockton, California (Figure 1) The objective of this investigation is to
evaluate if the site qualifies for no further action status The investigation involved the preparation
of a site-specific health and safety plan, obtaining permits and utility clearance, advancmg two soil
borings, the collection and chemical analyses of soli samples, and the preparation of a technical report
detailing the findings of the investigation The work was conducted under the direction of a
California registered geologist
Z 0 SCOPE OF WORK
Based on an evaluation of available soil sample analytical results obtained during previous
investigations at the site(Appendix A),the vicinity of the former underground storage tanks appeared
to be the area greatest impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons Hydrocarbon concentrations ranged
between non-detect to 33,000 mg/kg total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) in this area
Soil samples collected from this area demonstrate how effective past remedial efforts have been
21 Pre-Field Act_wties
Prior to conducting any site activities, SECOR prepared a site-specific health and safety plan for
. drilhng activities as required by 29 CFR 1910 120 The health and safety plan detailed field
procedures regarding various potential safety hazards that may be encountered during site activities
All personnel contracted for the field investigation were required to review and understand this plan.
SECOR obtained the necessary soil boring permits from the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services,Environmental Health Division(PHS/EHD) In addition, a utility clearance was conducted
to ensure that subsurface utilities were not intercepted during the drilling activities Underground
Service Alert (USA) was notified 48 hours before the drillmg start date for clearing and locating
public utilities
22 Soil Borings
On December 19, 1996, SECOR supervised the drilling of two soil borings at the site The
approximate location of these borings and other related site features are shown on Figure 2 The
locations were selected to be as close as possible to areas previously found to have petroleum
hydrocarbon impacted soil The soil bQnngs were advanced using a Mobile B-61 hollow-stem auger
drill rig equipped with a 18-inch long by 2-inch diameter split spoon sampler operated by West
Hazmat Drilling,Inc of Rancho Cordova, California Soil borings CB-1 and CB-2, were advanced
to 70 0 feet, and 65 0 feet below ground surface (bgs) respectively
4325FNV RPT
SECOR
J0700 019 02 1 March 17 1997
