i
• Scope of Work
To assess the extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in groundwater
adjacent to the subject site the following work is proposed:
o Prepare a site specific health and safety plan.
o Drill three soil borings to approximately 90 feet below
grade and convert then to groundwater monitoring wells
(MW-6, MW-7, and MW-8) .
o Collect soil samples at 5-foot intervals and/or at
changes in lithology with a modified California sampler
and classify recovered soil samples according to the
Unified Soil Classification System (USCS) .
o Screen the recovered soil samples in the field with a
photoionization detector (PID) for the presence of
organic vapors.
o Submit selected soil samples for chemical analysis based
on field observations and PID readings. Soil samples
will be analyzed for total petreleum hydrocarbons as
gasoline (TPHg) and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and
xylenes (BTEX) by a state-certified laboratory.
• o Survey the newly constructed well riser elevations to
within 0. 41 foot relative to the other on-site monitoring
wells.
o Measure water levels in monitoring wells MW-1, MW--2 , MW-
3 , MW-4, MW-5, MW-6, MW-7, and MW-8 .
o Develop each of the newly-constructed wells (MW-6, MW-7
and MW-8) .
o Purge and sample each existing monitoring well (MW-1, MW-
2 , MW-3 , MW-4 , MW-5, MW--6, MW-7 , MW-8)
o Submit groundwater samples collected from monitoring
wells MW-1, MW-2 , MW-3 , MW-4 , MW-5, MW-6, MW-7 amd MW-8
for analysis of TPHg and BTEX by a state-certified
laboratory.
o Evaluate the potential for upgradient, off-site sources
of petroleum constituents.
o Compile and review the collected data and prepare a
report of the findings.
Soil Borings and Soil Sampling
• soil borings of sufficient diameter to allow installation of 2-inch
diameter monitoring wells will be advanced to depths of
