Groundwater Flow Direction Varies (Direction)
L Discussion On April 16,2003,ATC Associates Inc (ATC)personnel gauged purged and sampled 18 groundwater monitor wells and 3
vapor extraction wells(VW-1,VW-2,and VW-3)at the site(Figures 1 and 2) Depth to groundwater ranged between 52 69(MW-13)to
53 56 (MW-14) feet below ground surface (bgs) The direction of groundwater flow was generally northeasterly with a calculated
hydraulic gradient of approximately 0 0003 ft/ft, respectively (Figure 3) No measurable phase-separated hydrocarbons (PSH) were
' recorded during this monitonng event Groundwater elevations and contours are illustrated on Figure 3 and groundwater-monitoring data
is presented in Table 1
On April 16, 2003, ATC collected groundwater samples from 18 monitor and 3 vapor extraction wells ATC utilized the attached
' sampling procedures described in Appendix A to collect groundwater samples from MW-1,MW-2,MW-3,MW-4,MW-5,MW-6,MW-
7, MW-8, MW-9, MW-]0,MW-11, MW-12, MW-13, MW-14,MW-15,MW-16, MW-17, EX-1, VW-1,VW-2, and VW-3 Field logs
are also included in Appendix A Groundwater samples collected were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons characterized as
gasoline (TPHg), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX), fuel oxygenates methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), di-
isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl ter -butyl ether(ETBE), tert-amyl methyl ether(TAME), and tert-butyl alcohol (TBA), 1,2-dichlorethane
(1,2-DCA), and 1,2-dibromoethane(EDB)by EPA Test Method 8260 TPHg concentrations were reported above the laboratory method
Reporting Limit(RL)of 50 micrograms per liter(gg/L) in groundwater samples collected from 9 of the twenty-one(21)wells sampled
this quarter The highest TPHg, benzene, and MTBE concentrations reported were 16,000, 3,400, and 290 gg/L, respectively, in the
' groundwater samples collected from EX-1 TBA was detected above the laboratory RL ranging from 20 to 200 pg/L in 4 wells sampled,
the highest concentration reported was 120 gg/L in groundwater samples collected from VW-3 1,2-DCA concentrations were reported
above the laboratory RL ranging from 2 0 to 20 gg/L in 5 wells, the highest 1,2-DCA concentration reported was 39µg/L in groundwater
samples collected from MW-7 EDB,TAME,and DIPE concentrations were reported below their laboratory RL ranging from 2 0 to 20
' lig/L in the 21 wells sampled TPHg,benzene, and MTBE concentrations are illustrated on Figure 2 and historic groundwater analytical
results are presented in Tables I and 2 Hydrographs of groundwater elevations and analytical data are attached in Appendix B and
complete laboratory analytical results and chain-of-custody documentation are attached in Appendix C
