ACTON •
MICKELSON • ;;' Yui
van DAM, INC.
Consulting Scientists, Engineers,and'Geo fists
May 18, 1994
Mr. Kenneth Earnest
Ultramar Inc.
525 West Third Street
Hanford, California 93230 19042.02
Subject: Work Plan to Conduct Additional Subsurface Investigation
Beacon Cardlock Station No. 610
3300 Waterloo Road, Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Earnest:
This work plan has been prepared to describe proposed additional subsurface investigation at
Beacon Cardlock Station No. 610 (site) located at 3300 Waterloo Road, Stockton, San Joaquin
County, California (Figures 1 and 2). The investigation is intenders to better assess the presence
or absence of petroleum hydrocarbon constituents, including total petroleum hydrocarbons as
gasoline and diesel (TPHg and TPHd, respectively), and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and
xylenes (BTEX), in the soil beneath the site. This work plan also covers the installation of
vadose zone wells for possible future remeditation use. This work plan also describes methods
to be used to replace an existing monitoring well (MW-7) which was damaged during
underground storage tank removal activities.
Six ground water monitoring wells, three of which are now dry, have been installed previously
at the site. Ground water is currently approximately 65 feet below grade. Soil reported to
contain petroleum hydrocarbon constituents was excavated during underground storage tank
removal activities (Figures 2, 3, and 4), as reported in the AMV report "Tank Closure Report,
Beacon Cardlock#610," dated November 22, 1993. Cross-sections of the subsurface in the area
of the former underground storage tanks illustrating subsurface conditions encountered and the
concentrations of TPHg, TPHd, and benzene reported during previous investigations are shown
on Figures 3 and 4. Concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbon constituents encountered during
the overexcavation of the underground storage tank basin are presented in Table 1. Locations
of the tank pit soil samples are illustrated on Figure 5.
Scope of Work
The proposed scope of work includes the following:
• Acquisition of permits to drill the soil borings and possibly install vadose zone wells.
LRPTDOS.MAP
4511 Golden Foothill Parkway, Suite 1 (916)939-7550
El Dorado Hills,California 95762 Fax(916)939-7570
