TANK CLOSURE REPORT—BEACON x/610
3300 Waterloo Road, Stockton, CA
AMV Project No 19042 01
-4-
(Table 4). Total lead concentrations ranged from 11 to 24 mg/kg; EDB was not present at
detectable concentrations Copies of certified analytical reports for the stockpiled soil samples
are presented in Appendix C. The soils were removed from the site and transported to Ben's
Trucking and Equipment, Inc , for remediation by thin -spread aeration and/or bioremediation
6.0 DISCUSSION
Approximately 600 cubic yards of excavated soil were removed from the site for thin -spreading
and/or bioremediation. The former tank basin area was overexcavated to depths ranging from
16 to 33 feet below grade Only one soil sample collected from the bottom of the excavation
(TBI -A at 33 feet) contained concentrations of TPHg and TPHd exceeding 100 mg/kg Two
conductor casings were installed near the location of this sample (TB1-A) for vertical assessment
of petroleum hydrocarbon constituents at a future date. Conductor casing locations are
illustrated in Figure 3 Three soil samples collected from the southwest sidewall contained
concentrations of TPHg and TPHd exceeding 100 mg/kg (T10 -J at 20 feet, Tll-K at 16 feet,
and T12 -L at 18 feet) It appears that elevated levels of petroleum hydrocarbons extend
laterally, in the direction of the pump island canopy The vertical extent of these petroleum
hydrocarbon constituents in soil will be assessed at a future date by utilizing the newly installed
conductor casings The lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbons detected on the southwest
sidewall appears to be delineated by soil samples collected from soil borings MW -1, MW -4,
MW -5, and MW -6 Benzene was not detected in any soil samples collected from these bonngs
No other petroleum hydrocarbon constituents were detected in concentrations greater than
0 4 ppm, based on SSB Environmental Consultants, 1987 and 1993 reports for the site The
pump island areas were overexcavated to depths ranging from 4 5 to 6 feet below grade Soil
samples collected below the former product dispenser did not contain detectable concentrations
of petroleum hydrocarbons
7.0 REMARKS
We recommend that a copy of this report be submitted to
Ms L T Briggs
Division of Environmental Health
Department of Public Health Services
County of San Joaquin
Post Office Box 2009
Stockton, California 95201-2009
RPT010 WD
