REQUEST FOR SITE CLOSURE REPORT
FORMER BEACON STATION #610
3300 WATERLOO ROAD
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
' AMV PROJECT NO. 19042.04
' 1.0 INTRODUCTION
' Acton • Mickelson • van Dam Inc
(AMV), has been authorized by Ultramar Inc (Ultramar),
to prepare a request for site closure report for former Beacon Station #610, located at 3300
' Waterloo Road, Stockton, San Joaquin County, California (Figures 1 and 2) This report has
been prepared in accordance with the guidelines promulgated in the California Regional Water
Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region (Regional Board), document titled "Requests for
Site CIosure - Appendix B of the Tri-Regional Recommendations for Preliminary Investigation
and Evaluation of Underground Tank Sites, dated March 1, 1994 (Appendix A) This report
' summarizes the results of previous investigations at the site including the initial distribution of
petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and ground water beneath the site, remedial actions performed,
the current distribution of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and ground water, and presents
arguments for site closure
1.1 Site History
The site is currently operated as a cardlock fuel service station On October 14 1993 three
10,000-gallon underground storage tanks (USTs) were removed from the site The USTs were
' used for storage of various grades of unleaded gasoline and diesel fuels Prior to the UST
removal, nine soil bonngs had been advanced at the site by other consulting firms, and seven
of the bonngs were converted to ground water monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-7
(Figure 2) Six additional soil bonngs were advanced at the site by AMV in September 1994
Three of the soil bonngs were converted to soil vapor extraction wells VE-1 through VE-3
(Figure 2)
' 1.2 Site Vicinity Well Survey
A review of California Department of Water Resources (DWR) well records was conducted by
AMV during the summer of 1994 Five wells were reported to be located between 2,000 and
2,500 feet of the site (Figure 3) Results of the site vicinity well survey are compiled in
1 Table 1 One of the well sites, located approximately 2,000 feet northwest of the site, is
considered to be hydraulically downgradient of the subject site (Circle A, Figure 3) The
screened Interval of the well designated as A on Figure 3 and Table 1 was not stipulated in
information provided by DWR, however, since this well was completed at a depth of 408 feet
ti below grade (Table 1), it is likely that Its ground water producing intervals are below the local
water table aquifer
' rpt114 mi
