ref <br /> 5tF ACTON • <br /> ' MICKELSON - <br /> van DAM, INC. <br />• Consulting Scientists, Engineers,and Geologists <br /> December 5, 1994 C <br /> Mr Kenneth Earnest <br /> Ultramar Inc <br /> 525 West Third Street <br /> Hanford, California 93232 1904203/7 <br /> Subject Additional Soil investigation and Vapor Extraction Well Installation <br /> Beacon Station #610, 3300 Waterloo Road, Stockton, California <br /> Dear Mr Earnest <br /> Acton • Mickelson • van Dam, Inc (AMV), has been authorized to continue an investigation of soil <br /> conditions at Beacon Station #610 located at 3300 Waterloo Road, Stockton, San Joaquin County, <br /> California (Figures 1 and 2) This letter report summarizes the results of soil boring, soil sampling, <br /> vapor extraction well installation, and ground water monitoring well replacement performed at the site <br /> on September 26 through 29, 1994 <br /> Scope of Work <br /> aThe work included advancing six 8-inch-diameter soil borings to depths ranging trom 50 to 60 teet below <br /> grade and completing three of these borings as 2-inch-diameter vapor extraction wells (designated as <br /> VE-1, VE-2, and VE-3, Figure 3) Soil boring locations are illustrated on Figure 3 Methods used to <br /> drill and sample the soil borings are described in Enclosure A Existing monitoring well MW-7 was <br /> removed on September 28, 1994, and a new 4-inch-diameter monitoring well was installed within the <br /> existing borehole <br /> Selected soil samples collected as the soil borings were advanced were submitted for Iaboratory analysis <br /> of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX), total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), <br /> and total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd) Analytical procedures conformed to U S <br /> Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Calitornia Environmental Protection Agency, Department <br /> of Toxic Substances Control (Cal-EPA) approved methods <br /> Soil Borings <br /> Soil samples collected from the borings consisted of silt, silty clay, silty sand, sandy silt, and sand <br /> Approximately 1 toot of concrete and gravel road base was encountered in soil borings SB-4 and SB-5 <br /> Soil samples collected trom soil boring SB-4 indicate that the site is underlain by the following soil units <br /> from the ground surface to I 1 feet below grade, the soil encountered consisted of silt, trom 11 to 30 feet <br /> below grade, silty clay was encountered, sandy silt is present to 38 teet below grade and sand is present <br /> trom 38 to 50 teet below grade, the total depth of the boring <br /> IrrtU07 Sse I <br /> I <br /> 4511 Golden Foothill Parkway Suite l (916) 939-7550 <br /> El Dorado Hills, California 95762 Fax (916) 939-7470 <br />
