•
aramar
Anthony Brown
Maintenance Manager
July 16, 2019
VIA EMAIL GBACKUS@SJGOV.ORG
Mr. Garrett Backus
Ld. Sr. REHS, CUPA programs
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
1868 E. Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
RE: Aramark Laundry Facility- 7679 S. Longe Street, Stockton, CA 95206
Dear Mr. Backus,
This letter is to follow up on my telephone call with you on July 16, 2019 regarding a water hose
that was left on at our Stockton facility the evening of July 15th.
As I explained, our plant had a release of water to our parking lot. A water hose (the size of a
typical garden hose)was left running the night of July 15th releasing clean water in the interior
of the facility. The water ran into a sump in the interior of the building. The sump malfunctioned
and water started running out of the sump. The water then ran toward the rollup doors. There
were absorbent socks at the doors. The socks absorbed the water, and after the socks were
saturated, the water seeped through and ran into the parking lot.
The water was contained by the facility's Safe Drain system and pooled in the parking lot. (The
purpose of the Safe Drain system is to seal the storm drains in case of a spill.)
I received a call from one of our employees at approximately 10:15 pm on July 15th notifying me
that water was pooling in the parking lot. Upon arrival at approximately 10:25 pm, I began
efforts to contain the water. I then checked the water that had pooled in the parking lot. I tested
the pH of the water (which was neutral) and visually inspected the water confirming there was
no discoloration and no visible sheen. After taking these steps, I opened the Safe Drain
allowing the water to go into the storm drain.
Based on visual inspection, pH testing, and knowledge of the source of the water, there was no
indication the water contained hazardous materials. Although we do not believe this incident is
reportable, we wanted to let you know about it in an abundance of caution.
7679 S.
