Dollar General #13592, 310 W Charter Way Stockton, CA Record ID PR0537571
07/24/2019 CUPA— Haz. Waste
PHOTO#6
When asked how employees clean up chemical spills and manage the waste generated from those spills, Jeffrey stated spill magic is used to absorb a
liquid chemical spill, which is then swept up and thrown into the trash. Jeffrey stated that if the chemical container can no longer be sold or used by the
facility, the chemical container will be scanned using the hand-held scanner, placed in a bag, and then placed into the appropriate hazardous tote.
According to the Dollar General Environmental Compliance Program Training guide, found in the hazardous waste storage area, "absorbent pads used
during the clean up and any other clean up materials" should be placed into a re-sealable bag and then placed into the "correct [hazardous waste] tote (i.e.
Acid, Alkaline, Flammable, Oxidizer or Toxic)." Jeffrey stated the used spill magic is thrown into the trash because he thought the spill magic neutralized
chemicals.
