Waste <br /> PHOTO#22 <br /> Based on the types of violations observed, the facility employees are not trained on proper hazardous waste (HW) handling or the training provided has <br /> been inadequate. <br /> 1. The following waste items were found bagged and inside a HW tote labeled as Acid HW (IMG 8171-207): <br /> -A Garnier Nutrisse Hair Color 93 Light Golden Blonde 1 kit (UPC/SKU 603084027378), which the scanner stated should be placed in the Acid HW tote. <br /> - Six Garnier Nutrisse Hair Color B4 Caramel Chocolate 1 kit (UPC/SKU 603084431045) <br /> -Two Garnier Nutrisee Hair Color 42 Deep Burgundy 1 kit (UPC/SKU 603084244140), which the scanner stated should be placed in the Acid HW tote. <br /> -A Garnier Nutrisse Hair Color 73 Dark Golden Blonde 1 kit (UPC/SKU 603084242597), which the scanner stated should be placed in the Acid HW tote. <br /> However, the hair coloring kits listed above each contained a container of colorant, a container of fruit oil concentrate, a container of rinse-out conditioner, <br /> and a container of developer, each of which is made up of a different list of ingredients. According to the package labels, the colorant contains ammonium <br /> hydroxide, which according to the DG HW guidance poster should be placed in the Alkaline HW tote. The developer contains hydrogen peroxide, which <br /> according to the DG HW guidance poster should be placed in the Oxidizer HW tote. The fruit oil concentrate and the rinse-out conditioner contain oils and <br /> fragrance, which according to the DG HW guidance poster should be placed in the Flammable HW tote. <br /> At the time of inspection, it was unclear why the hair coloring kits were classified to be placed in the Acid HW tote. Tony Yang, Store Manager, stated that <br /> DG Corporate was working on getting the kits to come up as Oxidizer HW on the hand held scanners. A document, which listed various UPC numbers for <br /> "GN Nutrisse Ultra color Unregulated Hair Color Kit,"was found in the Acid HW tote with the hair coloring kits.
