California Analytical Laboratory
h
ill .
March 18, 1991
-
- Alex Richards W- Ensec
Kleinfelder, Inc.
9795 Business Park Drive iP
Suite D
Sacramento, CA 95827 .
Dear Alex:
r
Per our conversation concerning Enseco-Cal Lal projects 50084 and
54246, the following was determined: f
1. Lower the EPA Method 8020 reporting limit 13 for benzene, toluene, t
ethyl benzene, and xylenes.
Project 50084 - results for these compounds were reported as part
of EPA Method 8240 with reporting limits 'at 5 ppb.
Project 54246 - the reporting limits werel dropped by a factor of
two (2) , amended datasheets are being prepared and will follow
shortly.
2. Identification of unknown hydrocarbons fol sample 35868 - the
amount of hydrocarbon was close to the reporting limit and
determination based on patterning was notpossible. Results were
based on diesel due to the carbon ranges present. {
i
3. Oil and Grease solubility -- the percent solubility is unknown, the
method indicates that the determination of a specific substance is
not measured, but rather a group of substances with similar
physical characteristics is determined quantitatively on the basis
of their common solubility in trichlorotrifluoroethane. It should
be noted that the method is not applicable to measurement of low-
boiling fractions that volatilize at temperatures below 70°C.
If you have any questions or if I can be of further assistance, please
do not hesitate to call me.
l
Sincerely,
'I
Karen A.
