(AGE) on behalf of the above
referenced site and has the following comments.
The Report documents the groundwater-monitoring event that took place on November
3, 1999. Analytical results of the water samples were at similar levels to the previous
two events. A soil vapor extraction/air sparge system (SVEIAS) operated at this site
from March 1999 through December 1999. The report estimates that a total of 158.92
gallons of petroleum hydrocarbon contamination was removed by the SVEIAS system.
This represents 53% of the total mass of contamination estimated to be at the site
(Revised Corrective Action Plan —January 1997).
The Report recommends that groundwater-monitoring events at this site be reduced to
semi-annual events. This has been discussed and agreed to with PHSIEHD.
Groundwater monitoring should continue until this site is ready for closure. The Report
also recommends at least one confirmation soil boring be advanced in the area of the
most heavily concentrated soil contamination, near well VW-1. PHSIEHD agrees with
this recommendation. Please proceed with preparation of a work plan for the
confirmation soil sampling.
If you have any questions or comments please call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Division
LznA a
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Margar6i Lagorio, ZHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor, Unit IV
cc: Marry Hartzell, CVRWQCB
Tim Cuellar, AGE
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
