28 January 1993
(GeoAudit CV43F1-1.35)
_ Page 5 of 5
The benzene contamination detected in the water sample may be the
result of leakage from the former UST on the site, although this
contamination could have an off-site source.
The source of the halogenated solvents (i. e. the TPH) is unknown.
Such solvents are commonly used by industrial firms for cleaning
and degreasing, and the contamination probably originated off-site
in one of the surrounding industries. The contamination may have
entered the groundwater through the septic system that serves the
building complex to the south. This system is located approximately
20 -- 30 feet south of the monitoring well. Alternatively, the
solvents could have been introduced on-site via some unknown prior
use of the site.
We recommend that the well be re-sampled within three months and
analyzed for the presence of halogenated hydrocarbons and BTE&X in
accordance with EPA methods 8015, 8020, and 601.
LIMITATIONS
our professional services were performed using that degree of care
and skill ordinarily exercised by environmental consultants
practicing in this or similar localities. The findings were mainly
based on analytical results provided by an independent Laboratory.
Evaluations of the geologic conditions at the site for the purpose
of this investigation are made from a limited number of available
data points (i.e. borings) and subsurface conditions may vary away
from these data points. Although soil contamination was not
encountered, it could be present in areas not investigated by this
assessment. Therefore, no other warranty, expressed or implied, is
made as to the professional recommendations contained in this
report.
The opportunity .to prepare this report is greatly appreciated.
Please feel free to call our office if you have any questions.
Sincerely, Solp
GEOLOGICAL AUDIT SERVICES, INC.
i
No.3475
'4 • OF ca.ITo`P
Bob Marty Victor B.
