• August 5, 1988 AGS Job No. 38033--1
Marlowe Properties, Stockton, California
R
screened portion of each well consists of factory-perforated
casing with 0. 020-inch-wide slots and extends from the total depth
of the boreholes to approximately 40 feet below
grade. The
annular space opposite the screen was packed with sorted sand to
approximately 2 feet above the top of the screen. A bentonite
seal approximately 3 feet in thickness was placed above the sand
to prevent cement from entering the sand pack. The remaining
annulus was backfilled with a cement-bentonite slurry to grade.
The construction details of the well is
graphically depicted on
the boring logs. The well heads were secured in cast-aluminum
• utility boxes with PVC aprons. The boxes were set in concrete
flush with the surrounding grade and have watertight seals. A
specially designed wrench is required to open the box, thereby
reducing the possibility of vandalism.
i
On July 15, 1988, a geologist from Applied GeoSystems visited the
site to measure the depth to water in the monitoring well,
` subjectively analyze the ground water in the well , develop and
purge the well, and collect a ground-water sample for laboratory
analysis. The depth to water was measured to the nearest 0. 01-
foot with an electric water-level indicator. The water-level at
the time of measurement was 63 .59 feet below grade. This water
level was lower than expected, probably due to lack of rain in the
• area and consequent agricultural ground-water pumping. Ground
9
App/ied GeoSystems
