12 June 1996
AGE-NC Project No 95-0104
of 200µg11
The ground water surface was approximately 16 feet above the top of screen intervals in wells MW-2
through MW-4 and was approximately 24 feet and 42 feet below the top of screen intervals in wells
MW-I and VW-1, respectively Because the screened intervals in MW-2, MW-3, and MW-4 are
beneath the surface of the ground water, samples collected in those wells may not be representative
of actual aquifer conditions
' 5 2 RECOMMENDATIONS
' An additional ground water monitoring well should be considered for installation down-gradient of
VW-I with an appropriate screened interval above surface ground water In addition, future quarterly
monitoring events should incorporate VW-1 into the sampling program
' We recommend the next quarterly sampling be scheduled for July 1996 Samples collected should
be analyzed for MTBE ,n addition to TPH-g, BTE&X and HVOCs If MTBE ,s not detected from
ground water samples collected during the July 1996 monitoring event, then analysis for MTBE
during future sampling events should not be necessary
' A Corrective Action Plan and addendum, recommending soil vapor extraction as the preferred
remedial option for the site, was submitted to the PHS-EHD Upon approval of the CAP, a Work
' Plan for the installation of the remediation system should be prepared and installation procedures
should proceed
6.0. LIMITATIONS
' Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based mainly
upon analytical results provided by an independent Iaboratory Evaluations of the geologic/hydro-
geologic conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation are made from a limited number
of available data points (1 a soil and/or ground water samples), and subsurface conditions may vary
away from these data points No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the professional
' recommendations contained in this report
