Therefore, closure of this site will require concurrence of
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB).
Since the July sampling, two additional rounds of sampling have occurred. Contamination of groundwater
was not detected in those samples. There are several water wells located within 2000 feet of this site which
may affect the groundwater gradient. To confirm a consistent gradient, we request that the level of water
in the monitoring wells be measured and the current gradient determined.
In addition, the following items need to be addressed or corrected in an addendum to this report. The
disposition of the purged water contained in fifty-five gallon drums at the site is to be addressed. The chain
of custody and lab sample reports for the September, 1991 sampling, show the samples were taken on
September 4, 1991. The report is correct in stating the samples were collected on September 3, 1991.
Correct chain of custody and lab reports should be submitted. A letter written to San Joaquin County Air
Pollution Control dated May 8, 1990,by Craig Wright,Covenant Environmental, states the contaminated soil
from the gas tank removal was sampled and the results were non-detect. Provide copies of these lab sample
analyses and the chain of custody. The disposition of this soil should also be addressed.
Please be advised that once our office has recommended closure and CVRWQCB has concurred with our
recommendation, the monitoring wells at this site will have to be destroyed before the closure letter is
written.
If you have any questions, contact Margaret Lagorio, Senior REHS, at (209)468-3449.
Jogi Khanna, , M.P.H.
Health O ice
/ aurie A Cotulla, REHS, Program Manager
Environmental Health Division
LAC/ML:nr
c: CVRWQCB - Elizabeth Thayer
c: Harding Lawson Assoc.
1355 Willow Way, Ste. 109
Concord, CA 94520
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services 0
