r
Three soil samples per soil boring will be submitted for laboratory analysis. The samples
collected at the 15, 20 and 25 feet below the parking area subgrade (25, 30 and 35 feet below
street surface grade) will be analyzed. Additional soil samples may be submitted for analysis, if
required to adequately characterize the site. Field observations and sample selection will be
reviewed with the PHS/EHD inspector, prior to sample submittal to the lab.
Each soil sample will be sealed with Teflon®film and plastic end caps, labeled, packaged in an
iced cooler, and transported with chain-of-custody documentation to a state of California-certified
hazardous waste testing laboratory for analysis. The lab will analyze each of the soil samples on
a standard turn-around for TPH-as-gasoline, BTEX, MTBE, DIPE, ETBE, TAME, and TBA by
EPA Method 82608.
2.2.3 Groundwater Monitoring, Sampling and Analysis
After the monitoring well seals have set for at least 72 hours, and then on a quarterly basis
thereafter, the wells will be monitored and sampled. Depth-to-groundwater and free product
thickness (if necessary) will be monitored using a water level indicator capable of measurements
to within 0.01 foot. Following groundwater level measurements, the wells will be purged and
sampled.
The wells will be purged with a pump and dedicated disposable tubing until at least three well
casing volumes have been removed and/or after groundwater temperature, pH and electrical
conductivity values have stabilized. Groundwater will be sampled from the wells using
disposable polyethylene bailers and laboratory-supplied containers. Each sample container will
be labeled, packaged in an iced cooler and transported for analysis with chain-of-custody
documentation to a state of California certified hazardous waste testing laboratory. The lab will
analyze each groundwater sample on a standard turn-around for TPH-as-gasoline, BTEX,
MTBE, DIPE, ETBE, TAME, and TBA by EPA Method 82608.
2.2.4 Waste Storage and Disposal
All waste soil generated during drilling will be contained in 55-gallon drums and temporarily
stored at the site, pending analytical results and proper disposition. Equipment rinsate and
purged groundwater will be contained in separate 55-gallon drums for temporary on-site storage,
`- pending accumulation and proper disposition.
8
