RECEIVED BY SJCEHD (EF) ON 5/15/19
DOLLAR TREE.
May 15, 2019
Sent via email to Elianna Florido at eflorido@sjgov.org
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Dept
1868 E. Hazelton Ave
Stockton, CA 95205
Re: Dollar Tree#05403
1209 E. March Lane
Stockton, CA 95210
Dear Ms. Florido,
In response to the inspection conducted on April 9, 2019 and the amended report of April 12,
2019, for Store#05403 in Stockton, California, please see the outline below, and the exhibits
which follow, referencing existing procedures, documentation and/or actions taken:
• A Dollar Tree/Family Dollar EH&S Specialist conducted a follow-up audit at this store
on April 18, 2019. Store management was coached on the proper identification and
management of hazardous waste including the use of available resources and who to call
for support if unsure. As part of our internal audit, all totes containing waste were
assessed for proper categorization, processing and labeling. Tote contents and labels were
corrected as needed. It was emphasized that empty chemical containers NEVER go in the
trash, but must be processed as waste.
Note: The acting Store Manager was placed recently and has just completed her
hazardous waste training. Three Assistant Store Managers were also trained/retrained
(EXHIBIT A).
• The Emergency Coordinator role was explained to the Store Manager and her name and
contact information was added to the Emergency Response plan. The plan was posted at
the front of the store to be accessible by all associates (EXHIBIT B).
• The concrete stain in front of the hazardous waste fixture appears to be very old and
cannot be removed from the floor though we tried to do so (EXHIBIT C).
CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS
500 Volvo Parkway Chesapeake, Virginia 23320 Tel 757-321-5000 Fax 757-321-5292 www.dollartree.com
