Cummings & Associates, dated September 20, 2000. The report
o summarized field work completed during August and September, 2000. The purpose of
the field work was to collect additional soil and groundwater samples to investigate the
possible impact of contaminants to groundwater, including methyl tertiary butyl ether
(MTBE). Concentrations of contaminants detected in the groundwater samples include
total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline at 80 micrograms per liter(µg/1), toluene at 1.8
µg/l, and MTBE at 10 µg/l.
The horizontal and vertical extent of groundwater contamination has not been defined at
the site. Groundwater gradient and direction must be determined, and repeatable
sampling points provided for this site. A minimum of three monitoring wells must be
installed at the site to delineate horizontal and vertical extent of MTBE groundwater
contamination and to determine groundwater gradient arid direction. Submit a work plan
for the installation of the monitoring wells to PHS/EHD by December 1, 2000.
If you have any question regarding the monitoring wells for any other aspect of the
required investigation, please call Dot Lofstrom at (209)!468-3436.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Dot Lofstrom, R.G.
Engineering Geologist
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit
cc: Marty Hartzel, CVRWQCB
John P.
