Wetmore Street
Manteca CA 95336
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCIEHD) has reviewed
'Corrective Action Plan" (CAP) dated November 7, 2003 that was prepared on your
behalf by Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGI ) and has the following comments.
The CAP presents a brief history of the investigation of the unauthorized release of
petroleum hydrocarbons that has taken place following the 1999 removal of three
underground storage tanks at this site. Most of the contamination at this site is in the
groundwater in the vicinity of monitoring well MW4, and down gradient from MW4, to
depths of approximately 30 feet below surface grade (bsg). The CAP compares
groundwater pump and treat with insitu ozone injection for their potential to remediate
this contamination, and for their cost effectiveness. AGE recommends ozone injection
as the most efficient and cost effective remedial alternative, and proposes to conduct a
six-month ozone injection pilot test.
Please submit a work plan for design, installation and startup of an ozone injection
remediation system at this site. Include in the work plan an estimate of contaminant
mass remaining at this site, in both soil and groundwater. The work plan is due for
_ submittal no-later,than-.March.5,-2004., , - --
If
If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS Nuel C.
