Use of Black RCRA/Hazardous Pharmaceutical Waste Containers <br /> Proper waste segregation practices for Linacia Pharmacy <br /> General Standards <br /> Only proper, designated waste items are to be placed into any waste container. <br /> v Hazardous pharmaceutical waste includes any pharmaceutical identified as hazardous* (e.g. <br /> chemotherapeutic agent) or radioactive* but does not include medications solely on the basis of <br /> being a prescription or over-the-counter human drug (e.g. tablets, liquids). <br /> Black RCRA/Hazardous Pharmaceutical Waste Containers <br /> ❖ Black RCRA containers are for use in proper waste segregation practices;they are in addition to <br /> other containers such as the blue pharmaceutical waste containers. <br /> ❖ Listing of eligible waste pharmaceuticals that are placed into the black RCRA containers. <br /> o Hazardous--Brand Name: <br /> ✓ A l RECEIVED✓ Estracetrace <br /> ✓ Climara <br /> ✓ Activella MAY 2 9 2015 <br /> ✓ Depo-Provera <br /> ✓ Premarin ENVIRONMENTAL <br /> ✓ Prempro 14C41'rij nCDIIOTAACr%IT <br /> ✓ Prometrium <br /> ✓ Depo-Testosterone <br /> o Acutely Hazardous- Brand Name: <br /> ✓ Coumadin <br /> ✓ Nicoderm <br /> ✓ Note: In addition,for the acutely hazardous pharmaceuticals,the empty bulk <br /> bottles, empty blister packs, and outer wraps and membrane covers (for <br /> nicotine patches) are to be discarded into the black RCRA/hazardous <br /> pharmaceutical container. <br /> ❖ Sharps waste items may also be placed in black RCRA containers if associated with the listed <br /> hazardous pharmaceutical waste item. <br /> ❖ Black RCRA containers are considered full when waste contents approach the fill line.They <br /> should be changed before content exceeds the fill line. <br /> Blue Pharmaceutical Waste Containers <br /> ❖ Blue pharmaceutical waste containers are for segregation and disposal of non-hazardous/non- <br /> acutely hazardous pharmaceuticals. <br /> ❖ Blue pharmaceutical containers are considered full when waste contents approach the fill line. <br /> They should be changed before content exceeds the fill line. <br /> Cross-Usage of Waste Containers <br /> ❖ Prohibited - Do not place anything but listed RCRA/Hazardous Pharmaceutical Waste items into <br /> the black container.
