In view of the significant effect the S VE system continues to have on soil contamination at the property, we recommend continued operation of the system. Through the end of the third quarter of this year the S VE system had removed approximately 9,500 pounds of gasoline hydrocarbons from vadose soil beneath the former USTs. The most recent mass removal rate was approximately 245 pounds per week. The system is operating, and we hope that downtime will be minimal hereafter, having repaired a faulty logic circuit in the controller. Our request for pre-approval from the UST Fund is for an additional six months of SVE operation_ Obviously, the system will be evaluated frequently for effectiveness, particularly in light of the rising groundwater situation.
