GROUND ZERO ANALYSLS, INC.
1714 Main Street
Escalon, California 95320-1927
Telephone: (209) 838-9888
Facsimile: (209) 838-9883
May 14, 1999
Mr. Ron Rowe
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
304 East Weber Avenue, 3rd Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Knowles/Roek Property, 102 South Wilson Way, Stockton, CA
Recommendation for Continued Soil Vapor Extraction
Dear Mr. Rowe:
The UST Fund has asked for a directive from San Joaquin County PHS/EHD before they will pre-
approve anticipated costs for continued operation of the soil vapor extraction system (SVE) at the subject
property.
In view of the significant effect the SVE system continues to have on soil contamination at the property,
we recommend continued operation of the system. Through the end of the first quarter of this year the
SVE system had removed approximately 11,500 pounds of gasoline hydrocarbons from vadose soil
beneath the former USTs. The most recent mass removal rate was approximately 50 pounds per week.
Our request for pre-approval from the UST Fund is for an additional six months of SVE operation. The
system will be evaluated frequently for effectiveness, particularly in light of the rising groundwater
situation.
Please comment on our recommendation as soon as practicable. If you have any questions feel free to
contact me anytime.
Respectfully,
Ground Zer^o Analysis, IWc.
Gregory P. Stahl, RG 5023
CA Certified Hydrogeologist No. 264
cc: Mr. Carl Knowles
Mr. Pat Riddle, Esq.
